Wow! This past school year students and teachers have created amazing projects using the new iMac computer that the LTEF provided last spring. Students have become experts using different programs and they’ve done a great job of teaching other students and teachers. Here are just a few of the projects: • River trip videos and photobooks – these were also shared with ExxonMobil and the Board of Education • Newton’s Laws of Motion video projects • Language arts projects (both fiction and non-fiction) video and audio projects – in connection with research • Drama club: Each student in the play received a DVD complete with the movie of the school play and a slideshow of the photos from the play • Library class non-fiction research video and audio projects Training, planning, and preparation were key to the success of each project. More than fifty students participated in field trips to the Apple Store for training in iLife programs (pre-loaded on every Apple computer) and the Woodglen Librarian has spent countless hours at the Apple Store for training and tech support. The heart of this opportunity for students to work with the iMac is the behind the scenes Apple training. These multimedia projects have been of great interest to students and staff and it’s exciting to think of future possibilities. It would be incredible to get another iMac for the Woodglen School library; the financial details of the grant follow: iMac Cost: $1,149.00 Apple Care Protection Plan: $119.00 External Hard Drive (for back-up sytem): $150.00 One year of training at the Apple Store for the Woodglen Librarian: $99.00 Total cost of grant: $1,517.00 Thank you so much for your time and consideration!
